NYE tradition

For the past few years we have rung in the New Year with dear friends, Mark and Maria.  In years past, they have graciously opened up their Chicago home for Jeff and I, treating us to a decadent meal and child-free evening thanks to a very willing Nany and Papa who enjoy throwing their own NYE's bash for the little lady and man. This year, with our return to WI, Jeff and I thought it would be fun to return the favor and host a gathering in our new rental.  However, we quickly learned that we would not be able to move in until the first of January.  Plan B, kindly request that Jeff's folks venture north to the family lake house, so that we could entertain guests in their home.  Off they went, and we, along with Mark, Maria, baby Rosie, Bob, Dawn, George (the dog) and the littlest, settled in for a festive evening of flaming Rum punch cocktails, wine, rich food, hysterical conversation, Yahtzee, Ryan Seacrest, and midnight smooches.

Nothing says, "Hello 2013" like a flaming pre-dinner cocktail.
