St. Nick's Day was a busy one for our crew. And, with the promise of the Jolly One's gift to be delivered via Daddy after work, the little lady and man were on their best behavior all day long. (Truth be told, while we had purchased the children's presents well in advance I never had an opportunity to wrap them. Not only did Jeff wrap them at work, but entertained us with a suspenseful mid-afternoon FaceTime chat telling of Santa's imminent arrival at the clinic, which greatly amused the little ones.)
We began our morning in Bentlyville, OH for a time of festive holiday fellowship with my Bible study group. I was eager to show off the littlest lady to this special group of women and thank them for their influence, encouragement and prayers of support over the past year. While I enjoyed the company and lively chatter of this group of women, the littlest was passed around the room to be admired and the older two were entertained by Mr. Jason, one of the kindest seventeen year olds I have ever met. After brunch, the children and I made an early exit to grab lunch at Chick-fil-A, which has easily become our favorite fast food option and one we will greatly miss upon our return to WI, before dropping the little lady off at school. In the afternoon we enjoyed a holiday craft while attempting to wait patiently for Daddy's return, and packed up a few more boxes. Jeff's joyful and dramatic return home was a highlight of our day. Watching the little lady and man tear into their presents, a Dora bath kit and Spiderman shaving kit they had been admiring for weeks at Target, we couldn't help but get excited for Christmas and our return to Wisconsin. Cries of delight, followed by the little man's spirited, "Happy Birthday Mom!" (he's blissfully clueless) were the perfect sounds to end our evening.
Savoring every. last. bite.
Making progress.
"Thank you, Daddy! Did you buy this at Target?!" It might as well have been St. Jeff's Day.
"Daddy, I can shave just like you!"
