Mid-week treat

daddies are busy.  they work, serve, protect, and love each and every day.  joyfully they provide, so that we might live life full.

our daddy is no exception.

last week, after rising early to attend to a patient's needs at the hospital, he returned home to attend to our needs.  it was 8 am and we were hungry.

as i sat perched in the corner of our kitchen, soothed by the gentle morning breeze coming through the window and enticed by the satisfying smells wafting through the air, i was caught in a moment of sweet and simple contentedness.

it is because of him that i am able to live life fully each day, in our home, with our children, enjoying life's blessings great and small.  it is because of Him that i am aware of such blessings, for He stirs my spirit and prepares my heart to receive all His hand hath provided.

"taste and see that the Lord is good."
Psalm 34:8a

few make pancakes as tasty as he.
...the skills of a surgeon

he always makes the most of his time with us, even when it is brief.  because of this, i doubt our sweet ones will ever know just how much he worked, laboring outside of our home.

it's moments like these that i treasure.
moments like these i record.
in moments like these i remember,
each moment is a gift from the Lord.

  1. That photograph of Char eating her daddy's pancakes is quite possibly my favorite of her right now. The way she is grasping her fork, her beautifully tousled hair, the early morning sunlight streaming through the window behind her, perfectly back-lighting her! I love everything about it. I love everything about HER. She is growing so fast. XOXO
