- IT APPEARS THE LITTLE LADY HAS AN IMAGINARY FRIEND. IT'S NAME IS "SHUSH." OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE HEARD THIS NAME ON OCCASION, BUT NOW IT SEEMS THAT SHUSH IS MAKING AN APPEARANCE IN DREAMS, ON THE COUCH, AND IS RED. IT ALSO HAS SIDEKICK, A LIGHT BLUE MONSTER. PERHAPS, THE SAME LIGHT BLUE MONSTER THAT WAS RESIDING IN OUR FRONT HALL CLOSET WEEKS AGO. (I BELIEVE JEFF IS [NOT-SO-SECRETLY] THRILLED AS HE HAD NOT ONE BUT FOUR IMAGINARY FRIENDS IN HIS YOUTH, "SHAGGI [ALSO RED], DOOTIE-BON, LA-DI-DA, AND [MY PERSONAL FAVORITE] JUICY-SPILL." PERHAPS HE CAN GET THE OL' GANG BACK TOGETHER TO MEET SHUSH.)
- THE LITTLE LADY (WHO IS ALREADY QUITE EXPRESSIVE) HAS NOW TAKEN TO WHISPERING HER DISDAIN AND MOMENTS OF FRUSTRATION IN LIFE. I OFTEN FIND HER ON THE COUCH WHISPERING THINGS LIKE, "COME ON!" "THIS IS NOT GOOD." OR "I CAN'T DO THIS." THE OTHER MORNING I WAS SITTING AT OUR KITCHEN COUNTER CHECKING EMAILS WHEN I HEARD BETWEEN THE TIP-TAPPING OF THE KEYS, (IN A WHISPER) "I DO NOT WANT TO WATCH MAX AND RUBY. (INSERT GRIMACE, STAMP OF FOOT, TUG AT SHIRT) I WANT TO WATCH BACKYARDIGANS. I AM NOT HAPPY. I WILL BE GRUMPY." I AM CAREFUL TO HOLD BACK ANY SMILES OR WORSE LAUGH IN THESE MOMENTS, AS THE LITTLE LADY IS QUITE CONSCIENCE THESE DAYS OF BEING TOO CUTE, SAYING SOMETHING FUNNY, OR MAKING A MISTAKE. IN ALL HONESTY, I FIND SUCH DISPLAYS HYSTERICAL, AND AM IMPRESSED BY HER ABILITY TO HAVE BOTH QUIET AND DEAFENING OUTBURSTS.
TURNING THREE HAS AWAKENED HER YOUNG, IMAGINATIVE MIND AND UNLEASHED A PLETHORA OF NEW EMOTIONS FOR US TO ENJOY ALL THE LIVE LONG DAY.
-THE LITTLE MAN IS STARTING TO REVEAL THAT HIS VOCABULARY IS MUCH LARGER THAN HE LETS ON. HE IS LEARNING THAT HIS BIG BLUES AND SWEET "EH, EH, EHS" WILL ONLY GET HIM SO FAR IN LIFE. NOT SO IRONIC IS THE FACT THAT HE CHOOSES TO UNVEIL NEW VOCABULARY IN TARGET WHILE SHOPPING FOR FOOD. THIS WEEK WE HAVE HEARD - CUPCAKE, MUFFIN, AND COOKIE. NOTICE A THEME? SOON HIS COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE WILL CATCH UP TO HIS GROWING WAISTLINE.
- AND, ON A PERSONAL NOTE, I'M STARTING TO MISS MEAT.
This made my morning... I can just see Charlotte talking quietly to herself! LOVE IT. And Joey, that sneaky little guy. He is so much smarter than he lets on with his charming grunts. You are going to have a noisy home once he starts to really talk! Can't wait to hear about the conversations these two have with one another, that will be most entertaining and sweet! Love to you sweet friend. :)
