[If we want to focus on the importance of listening to God through prayer, Bible study, and time simply sitting still before Him, we must drown out all other distractions.
Jesus, himself, was a master at drowning out distractions. A quick read through the New Testament will often find him withdrawing to a lonely corner, getting up early to pray or locating a place of calm focus amidst a clanging throng of people.
Jesus purposed to find peace among the pandemonium.]
(taken from Proverbs 31 Ministries devotionals)
IN ALL OF OUR LIVES WE HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF CHAOS. IT MIGHT LOOK DIFFERENTLY IN EACH OF OUR HOMES, BUT IT IS NOT HARD TO FIND. WE LEAD BUSY LIVES, WE WORK HARD, WE PLAY AND WE ATTEMPT TO BALANCE IT ALL GRACEFULLY AND WITH JOY. IT IS NO EASY TASK; HOWEVER, AND THERE ARE MANY DAYS THAT WE BECOME DISTRACTED BY OUR CIRCUMSTANCES, EMOTIONS, HOME, FINANCES, SPOUSE, CHILDREN, PETS, NOT TO MENTION THE COUNTLESS FORMS OF "ENTERTAINMENT" WE CAN BUSY OURSELVES WITH. I PICTURE CHRIST WITH THRONGS OF PEOPLE SURROUNDING HIM, FOLLOWING HIM, AND MAKING REQUESTS OF HIM. (I WOULD QUESTION HIS SANITY, WERE HE NOT THE CHRIST-CHILD AND SAVIOR OF THE WORLD.) LET'S BE HONEST, THERE ARE DAYS WHEN I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO MANAGE MY "THRONG" OF THREE.
I PRAY THAT LIKE CHRIST, WE CAN PURPOSE TO FIND PEACE AMONG THE PANDEMONIUM. A CHALLENGE THAT I'M SURE REAPS BLESSINGS IN ABUNDANCE.
